What a lovely young woman in her freckles and calico dress, surrounded by a wall of leaves and flowers (of which she seems very much a part), and all the better in double, with the masking of all but her face in the first print making it feel as if she were coming into bloom right before our eyes. I love both images on their own, but for me it is all about the pairing, reminding one of the constructed nature of every image while also, through absence, then presence, deepening an appreciation of the loveliness of this particular subject and beauty of this particular image.
