I spotted this one from a distance in a case and made a bee-line for it--the combination of the lush red white and blues of the taped perimeter in combination with the matte gray of the slate makes it to my eye a most gorgeous thing; a found painting if I ever saw one. It took me a minute to decipher the printed text on the reverse, but it reads: Fourth of July Celebration Slatington PA, with just the year worn enough not to be sure of (my guess is 1895, or 1905), Slatington, a county in Pennsylvania, is known for its slate quarries--making a little fourth of July slate the perfect--and punning, too--patriotic celebration souvenir!
4 1/8" x 2 1/2". Beautiful antique condition, with just the rigth amount of bleeding of the red at the corners.
