Mourning Flowers for Joseph G. Pickett, Aged 16 Years, 10 Mos, 25 Days, 1896 Albumen Cabinet Card

Details give the best sense of the tender poignance of this albumen cabinet card of an arrangement of mourning flowers for a Joseph G. Picket, who died ("bieb") March 1, 1896 at the age of 16 years 10 months and 25 days as described through text etched (in several different hands it appears) on the negative. With the central arrangement labeled "from schoolmates and friends." This cabinet card given to a Bertha Smith, handwritten on the back of the card, for "lasting remebrances." Delicate and beautiful.

6 5/8" x 4 3/8". Good condition, with some very light surface wear showing as fine white spots in a couple of spots, more pronounced in photos than in hand (I do not notice them at all with my naked eyes!)
