One more marvelous bird from a young Emma Dilmore, this one a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year watercolor to her Aunt (Nonnie?), early 1890s based on others in the batch. I'm not quite sure what breed of bird with this fantastic rainbow of tail feathers, but just my sort! With a pale pink watercolor bottom border with yellow stripe--a separate piece of paper adhered as trim to the larger one. Clearly some loss across the top and a rough right edge, but all seems to me just right as it is.
8 x 5 1/2. Good condition, losses as evident and some light spotting. Watercolor and graphite, color strong and bold.
