Batter and Catcher, Antique Baseball Real Photo Postcard

Regular price $25.00

I love the game of baseball, in no small part for the aesthetics of the game, from the geometries of the field to the uniforms to the gestures of the throw and swing and catch. As so of course I fell in love with this photograph, and especially the interplay of these two bodies, the batter standing over a home plate laid in the grass holding his bat low, and the catcher behind him glove raised and torso cocked forward, it appears just having caught a high ball. To me all beautifully balletic, with chainlink fence in the background overgrown with vines and trees to either side.

5 3/8" x 3 1/2", unused postcard back. Early 20th c. The image shows a bit too much dark-light contrast but is in very good condition.
