It seems to me that there are many ways to read this wonderfully executed antique graphite drawing of mother and pups trying to survive a horrible flood (including perhaps as a commentary on the endless demands of motherhood)--and it feels super resonant at the (rather apocalyptic feeling) present moment as we confront one "inundation" after another. The cuteness of the puppies gathering with mom on her doghouse raft mitigates things a bit, but I find this really quite a heart-wrenching portrayal.
Framed, as found, in a nice black stained solid wood frame wired on the back for hanging. Framed: 18 7/8" x 16 7/8". Drawing size: 10 5/8" x 8 1/4". Very good condition, bright and crisp and clear.
