(Double-sided; first photo shows both sides.) To my eye and sensibilities this is completely delicious. And of course I'd love to have the whole ledger it came from, but it would have been a massive thing to carry around! I purchased five leafs from wonderful dealer friends at the Taconic show (all they had; this and two others listed today) and would be happy to have them surrounding me for the rest of my life.
The year 1929 is written among the handwritten sample numbers on one page. The palette and striped patterns here arranged in their grid make me think of Agnes Martin. And I think the missing couple of swatches add to a great overall sense of rhythm and syncopation. Stripes upon stripes, grids upon grids, and what adds up to quite a wonderful soft but decisive feeling palette! All are finely woven flannels. Beautiful.
19 1/2" x 14 1/2". Good condition. Dated 1929. I had to shoot this under fluorescent lights (which I hate) due to its scale...it's more beautiful and of course tactile too, in hand.) Good condition, no losses. Some unevenness and a couple of small tears/losses to long edges and general wear around the perimeter of the heavyweight paper, as documented.
