Diminutive, Very Folky Carved Pipe with Face, Found in Maine

Regular price $45.00

A curious, very small carved pipe, well smoked, carved of one piece of wood, which looks to me like burl or root wood, with very folky face, looking almost as if melting--or hallucinating! Found in inland Maine and with what seems a good bit of age to it. And with what looks like a small plug or reinforcement along the bottom, of the same wood, perhaps attached by sap now hardened like glue, I'm not quite sure. I really love the form of it, and that face, and the detailing around the mouth end. With quite a potent presence for a tiny thing.

2 1/2" t x 1 5/8" w x 1" d and in good condition, great patina, including some charring to the interior and rim of the bowl. It will stand up on its own on a flat surface.
