Duchampian Salesman Sample Spring Hinge

Sale price $35.00 Regular price $50.00

I find this c. 1940s-50s salesman sample hinge very very Duchampian--a "readymade" for sure, but the fact of it being a hinge making much more so: all about latent potential, tension, and the mechanics of activation, in this case the possibility of literally springing it open or snapping it closed. These are the things it makes me think about anyway! Plus just the word "hinge" and all it connotes.

6 3/8” x 2 5/8” x 1 7/8” d and in good condition, still very tight and in great working condition. Warner Manufacturing Co was headquartered in Cedar Falls from 1902-1964, and I would guess this dates to the late 40s or 50s.
