For the snuff box collection, or the portrait gallery, or the collection of lovely young women! And in red white and blue, too. C. 1820s-30s or so, I believe, hand-painted on lacquered papier mache box. I always especially love portraits of young women of this era for game of seduction they play--with the drape of her red sash crossing just below her waist almost like a bullfighter's red muleta.
3 1/4 x 2 1/8 x 7/8 and in good condition, with light craquelure and minor surface wear. Box and hinge in very good condition, lid closes flush.
