This time of year picking can feel pretty scarce, but finding this little wall box yesterday made an outing that otherwise turned up very little worth the trip--I love this thing, which to my sensibility is the perfect combination of humble and super folky, with an A++ for effort invested in making it special. I love that the hanging back is not at all symmetrical, nor quite is the decoration carved into it, and then this great star carved into the front panel of the box, which is attached to the sides and bottom with a bunch of what look like hand-forged brass nails, and then six more nails along the bottom just for flourish! Super sweet, and ready to hang filled with matches or whatever.
Dimensions: 5 3/8" t x 3 1/2" w x 2 3/8" d. There is a bit of loss along the right side of the back, as pictured--not visible from the front and no real matter--it remains sturdy and sound.
