I paid a fair bit for this one, but I couldn't walk away--and anything that delivers pure and total delight these days seems worth its weight in gold. Notes on the inside of the cover tell us it was a young Wilma Powlesland's memo pad, but the drawings were the work of Genleve Baldyga (and there's a self-portrait included.) Photos give a good sense, most pages documented. And then a series of spelling lists at the end, with some good and evocative word combinations! I'm a total sucker for things like this, and clearly Genleve was an empathetic soul--feeling the loneliness of a lone poinsetta, and the tenderness of her mother snuggling a bunny, and perceiving a bird-filled tree as a "Happy Inn." Love.
6" x 3 5/8". 21 pages with full page drawings, all pages filled on both front and back (42 drawings total) plus 13 pages of handwritten lists at end of notepad. All in good condition, ink and crayon.
