I had to laugh when I found these US Embossing Co Flag Blocks--in just about the most distressed condition box I've ever seen (and I've found Embossing Co. Color Cubes in some very distressed boxes!), with the blocks themselves strapped in/held together via rubber bands; it all felt very metaphoric to me. There is one single block missing, but one can just make the stripes portion of the American flag a bit shorter! And all the letters in the alphabet are covered on the lettered sides of the blocks. Solid red, white and blues on other sides, and then pictures of sailors and soldiers and parachuters on another. Photos show all sides. These are scarce and precious--there is a set on 1st Dibs for $1,300, and that's about the only set out there for sale I can find. C. 1940 I believe.
Box (such as it is) measures 12 5/8" x 8". Blocks 1 3/8" cubed. The stripe sides of the blocks are raised (stepped), other sides flat. Box very worn but blocks in good condition. The half-sized blocks (forming the bottom red striped of the flag) show writing on one side, looks like numbers to me.
