I do not know whence this came, but it appears to me that it is quite old, i.e. very old. It's a small thing, which looks as if likely once a lid to a small vessel, but now would make a wonderful little paper weight. It looks to me like a snake curled into a spiral, with mouth open at the top. Sculpted of black clay, with the snake painted in black against gold and red.
2" d x 7/8" t. A few chips around the bottom edge and a couple of hairline cracks, but stable and sound and nice to hold.
