Tiny Acrobats, Very Wonderful Earlyish 19th Century Ink Drawing in Tramp Frame

Regular price $125.00

Love at first sight with this little drawing--I swear I'll never get over the marvelous whimsy and immediacy of naive drawings made some 150 years ago, and to my sensibilities they feel all the more so when tiny, like secret windows into interior worlds long ago, whose survival defied all the odds. Two little girls here being held aloft by what looks to me like two women wearing pants, each little girl holding flowers, and with a bird in cage between them. I placed it in this lovely little antique tramp art frame, also from PA--which itself is pretty wonderful, with gilded interior edge and original glass in it. Easily removed--the drawing is just mounted to archival mat board with one piece of archival tape--but I think they're pretty sweet together.

Framed, under glass - antique tramp frame with original glass: 4 15/16" x 3 1/2". Drawing, ink on wove: 2 1/4" x 1 3/4". Top edge of drawing is irregularly cut, as evident. All in good condition, with one small ink burn in the drawing to the skirt of the girl aloft at right.
