A scarce survivor, this is an 1845 copy of "The Riddler" published by G.W. Cottrell, Boston. The binding here is in rough shape, but between the wallpaper cover wrap and the contents of the book, including very excellent engraved illustrations all the way through, there was no way I could pass it up. It struck me as a great one for enjoying together with a kid, or two, or more, holding a vast number of riddles of the sort that are perfectly posed aloud. And then pages devoted to anagrams and cypher codes and other visual language sorts of puzzles, with many pages of solutions to everything at the end. Fun 1840s style--which I must say is pretty clever and engaging fun!
5 5/8" x 5", 120 pp. String binding holding all pages together, but pages show tears/punctures along the inside edges as well as general wear. Cover is separated along top corner. A bit fragile toward the very front of book, otherwise stable and not much delicate.
