The Outrage! 1964 MGM Altered/Production Press Photo, Mounted

Regular price $50.00

Current mood, and quite cathartic! This is a publicity/press photo film still from MGM's 1964 film The Outrage, directed by Roger Soubie and starring Claire Bloom (holding the dagger here), Paul Newman (back turned) and Laurence Harvey (tied to a tree and gagged), with the cast also including William Shatner. What makes it for me is the white out surrounding Bloom here, with white heightening the flounces on her jacket and sleeves, too--making it all about her and her rage! Perfectly distilled by the typed title just below. I believe this would properly be called a production photo, altered for print by a newspaper or for some other promotional use.

A western, The Outrage  the film was based on the Japanese stories Rashomon and In A Grove by Ryunosuke Akutagawa (made into the film Rashomon by Kurosawa)-- a recounting of the same story by different people, including the victim.

As mounted to board: 11" x 14. Photo: 8 1/8" x 10". Very good condition, just right.
