The Old Hilman House, 1897, Sweet Hand-painted Stoneware Ink Bottle with Blue Flowers

Regular price $35.00

(First photo is composite showing two views.) I found this one in inland Maine a few years and have had it sitting around since, now here it is. A stoneware bottle, made for ink I believe, but then hand painted with pretty blue flowers on one side and "The Old Hilman House" August 1897 on the other, with what looks like three sets of monograms. I have not had luck identifying the Hilman House in question, but would like the think its inhabitants wrote lots of letters that summer and wound up with an empty ink bottle to decorate! I'm a sucker for things like this.

4 1/2" t x 1 3/4" d, good antique condition, with a couple of small glaze/surface chips, no matter.
