Something about a photograph of a handsome and perfectly poised homing pigeon really does it for me--a proud portrait of a rather phenomenal creature, which also brings to mind Terry Evans' gorgeous photographs of drawers full of taxidermied birds at the Field Museum. And here, with string-wrapped, tethered leg, this pigeon feels like all the more like embodied potential--soon to be released. A striking image, with the platform also looking one part surfboard, one part diving board!
