A sweet old chalkware Nipper, aka Victor, embodying the terrier at his best and most inquisitive looking, I'd say. In his lifetime (1884 – 1895), the dog was known as Nipper; it was as the subject of a painting by British artist Francis Barraud that he later became an icon, ear to gramophone, as the RCA Victor dog, with Victor appearing on one side of his base here. And seems like he's really listening now when I talk to him! Very sweet. C. 1920s I believe.
4 1/4" t. 2 1/8" x 1 7/8" base. Good overall condition, with general surface wear, and one old glued repair to the corner, diagonal at the "R". Stable and sturdy now.
