SOLD Stunning Stone Carved Pipe with Wrapped Hand, Presumed Wabanaki Native

Regular price $375.00

I find this to be one of the most beautiful, poetic things I've had in my possession--don't miss the photos of how the thumb wraps around the back of the bowl, a gesture which just about breaks my heart. I purchased this in Downeast Maine from a longtime dealer of Native American and Inuit pieces who described it as Wabanaki (Northeast Coast Native American); I can't say for certain, but think its beauty speaks for itself. It definitely has age, with surface patina (including some grime that could be cleaned off though I wouldn't touch it) and what feels like some softening to its edges from handling. It stands up on its own, leaving the only challenge to be which side to show.

4 3/8" long x 2 1/2" tall x 1 1/2" wide. Very good condition, with no cracks or chips. A little minor surface scratching here and there; the stone shows white when scratched.
