I found another old folk art coin bank constructed in a similar manner to this one with "crown of thorns" corners about a year ago, and had never seen another like it--until I found this one in Maine this week. To my eye a perfectly concise and very satisfying tramp art box of sorts, which one can also just flip upside down and treat as a closed cube, though perhaps with some secret something stashed inside (and you'd never know the top from the bottom). There is a right down the middle clean split in the slide lid with coin slot--but they easily slide in and out together or separately, and slide back in to fit snugly side by side.
5" x 5" w x 5" d. Aside from split in slide lid as described above, in very good condition, solid and sturdy and sharp looking. Earlyish 20th c. I believe.
