SOLD Soft Green Late 19th Century Oil on Board Landscape with Pink Tree and White Fence

Regular price $0.00

I found this one at the flea market just this morning and just really love the softness and dreaminess of it (and amid a long drought here, its Spring-y greenness really appeals!) My guess is it might be a hilltop cemetery perched behind the white fence, with the blooming pink tree in front and what look like weeping willows behind, together with the path leading into the distance, giving the painting a sense of portraying the endless cycle of death and rebirth. Humble but rather luminous.

11 7/16" x 6 3/4" and in good condition; slightly arching along the top edge as it was cut down from a larger canvas, I would think prior to its painting. The label on the board is Wadsworth Howland and Co. Boston, dating it to the late 19th c. Unsigned.
