Silvery Gold Blossoms, Moody 19th Century Theorem Watercolor

Regular price $48.00

A bit of an unusual theorem style watercolor in terms of the color of the blooms and blue spatter painting in and among them, which I really love, giving the suggestion of shadowy density. The effect is to impart the bunch with a certain moodiness, with a bit of a momento mori feel. And the color reads as a combination of silver and gold.

9" x 5 3/4". Watercolor on paper, c. mid 19th century. With the initials GR glued to the reverse. Good condition, with just light scattered stains/smudges along the edges of the paper, minor.
