I have a special love for all things produced by J.L Hammett Co--our country's oldest school-supply company, founded in Boston in 1863, and among the first to produce Froebel kindergarten materials. And while not specifically one of Froebel's Gifts, these colored counting blocks were originally labeled/branded by Hammett as kindergarten material (and Milton Bradley produced a set like this too)--open to many applications, from use developing skills like counting and sorting, color and pattern recognition and creation, more advanced math and spatial concepts, etc. And they're beautiful and fun to make patterns and structures with! This set I believe dates to the mid 20th century of so, complete and in excellent condition.
