Surely done as a penmanship exercise, c. mid 19th c, I was of course drawn to this formally, for the beautifully inked lettering, and also for the rather curious (and arguably contentious) phrase "Religion is the Daughter of Heaven." But I really fell in love with it as I started to started to notice its misspellings, corrections, and the curious choice of placing greatest emphasis on the word THE! A double "is" under religion, as it seems the first one smeared, and "Heven" corrected with a tiny "a" inserted, but in the wrong place! A few more cross outs and redundancies in the smaller verse at bottom, too, including an extra "friends." In the end, it seems to me to declare not that religion is the daughter of Heaven, but rather that hard-trying is; a very touching embodiment of humanity!
