Red Hat on Snowy Street, Antique Painting with Heavy Impasto on Academy Board

I love the moodiness of this old oil on board painting, which feels like winter desolation but for the scarlet red hat or scarf pulled over the head of the figure otherwise all in black at center right, which for me transforms it into a narrative painting: what is her story?! The thick impasto enhances a sense of drama, as does the road turning a corner in the distance, leading somewhere into the future!

10 3/16" x 8 1/8", oil on board. Unsigned though there is a bit of pencil writing on the reverse. Good overall condition, uncleaned, and with just a little craquelure in the sky and a bit of minor warping to the board. C. 1920s or so I believe.
