I'd guess this box originally held some sort of circular metal bits, making this a bit of a make do creation, and it looks more as if the chip-carved layers were carved away from the lid rather than added, though I don't think that is actually the case. I really love its simplicity and matter of factness, making it seems as if every old utilitarian box should have a tramp-y roof.
5" w x 3 1/2" t x 2 1/2" d and in very good condition, with just the right amount of wear. Clean inside.
