Child Painted Santa Watercolor Drawing in Chip Carved Tramp Frame

Regular price $95.00

I love this watercolor, and the tramp frame, and think they make a happy marriage. (Forgive the glare in photos.) Santa (who happily looks more like dad as Santa than "Santa") was executed on orange construction paper mounted to green, dated Dec. 13 and signed AW at the bottom left. Fabulous beard, fabulous boots, fabulous decorated tree (which Santa appears to be hailing), and this curiously sparse arrangement of objects underneath the tree--a tiny doll, a yellow trumpet, and what looks like a red tin can or who knows what??? I believe both the drawing and the chip carved tramp frame, four layers deep with nice details at centers and corners, likely both date to the 1930-40s or so, though the frame could be somewhat older than that.

Frame: 14" x 12" x 1 3/8" d.  Watercolor: 8 1/2" x 6 1/2". Frame is in excellent condition, with cardboard backing. Some age/light fading to the watercolor (detail photos make it seem paler than actual); good condition and still pops.
