Most Wonderful Antique Pennsylvania Folk Art Carved Woman with Hand Wrapping Waist

Regular price $200.00

She IS my favorite Brimfield find, purchased from a Pennsylvania based dealer, and I am pretty certain of Pennsylvania, probably around Lancaster county. Small in scale, which makes her feel all the more  special, so tenderly and delicately carved, with marvelous features and details--including very tiny waist! In addition to her humble, open face, and the arm bent at elbow to wrap her waist, I really really love the carving of her lower body, hips and legs visible through her skirt, making her feel quite the object of desire! Total love for this woman, 4th quarter 19th century I would guess. Interestingly, there is a cork inserted into the underside of the base; perhaps she was once part of something larger, and sat on a post?

5 9/16" t x 1 5/16" w x 1 1/4" d. Beautiful antique condition with just a few tiny light spots of stain loss on her chest, not detracting. It does not appear that she ever had a fully carved hand at her waist, just this squared off hand with incised suggestion of fingers. Stands straight and square on her own.
