There are obvious losses to this super folky mosaic--mostly to the wooden beads that form a sort of halo around our woman at left, though a few others here and there --but I think the figures are so fantastic I don't care, and the losses impart an appropriate sense of this as a dug-up ancient treasure! The orange beaded face of woman in profile at right, and the blue and yellow beading on the dress (robe? toga?) of the figure at left, and especially her big silver bead head are, to my eye, just so good! Nicely set off by the blue painted edge on the plaster.
6 1/16” x 6 3/4”. Losses as evident and some chipping around the edges of the plaster but no notable. cracks and stable and sound now.
