There is a dealer in a group shop I frequent who has been unloading these old Milton Bradley Froebel blocks one box at a time, and I just can't resist them. The label on this set is almost entirely worn away, but there's just enough to see Kindergarten, Gift, and Milton Bradley. And on another side of the finger-jointed box, in pen on masking tape: "Mrs. Knowles", who was surely the kindergarten teacher who used these in her classroom. Inside are 25 square blocks, which from what I understand are likely a mixed set (based on its size, I believe this box once held "Froebel "Gift 5", which combined square and triangular shaped blocks.) I just think these are so lovely and will continue to grab them whenever I find them, envisioning a long row of them all lined up on a shelf, to be taken down and played with on a rainy day!
Box measures 3 3/4" cubed. Blocks measure 1" cubed. Blocks are in very good shape; box shows some wear as evident and lid sticks a bit but slides out fine and closes tight and flush. C. 1900.
