Moody 19th Century Oil Seascape on Windor & Newton Board

Regular price $135.00

I would bet if one cleaned this old painting, c. 1880s or so, it would brighten up a bit, but part of what I really love about it is how dark and moody it feels--ideal for viewing by candlelight! At 13" inches across it is not large, but it has a big aura, and is the sort of painting I'd want to design a whole room around--in my dreams a library or study with lots of old wood and leather and a view of the sea! And I really could look at that little row of four wonderfully distinct trees on the cliff at left all day.

British, and done on a Windson & Newton "Colourmen" board. There are two fine tears to the surface of the painting at lower right (running from bottom right edge and lower right edge), pretty minor and I don't think detracting. Otherwise a little wear around the corners and edges, minor. 13" w x 8 7/8" t.
