Found in Maine, these are old hand-cut cardboard stencils or templates, which would have been used for cutting pieces of fabric to be incorporated into quilts. The lovely blue leaf shape, signed on reverse (Catharine Hunsecker) and dated 1889, is clearly the oldest among them, more aged and worn than the others. I think the longest chain-like one is particularly satisfying, too.
Longest (with center fold): 14 5/8" l; blue leaf: 9 7/8" l. All pictured included. The stem of the leaf shows a tear and old scotch tape repair on the reverse.
