I found a group of six of these old templates this week in Maine—where gloves and mittens are certainly a necessity for a good chunk of the year!—and find them so beautiful. It seems only right that I should offer a mis-matched pair among them, as it seems more often than not what's in my mitten drawer! And I really love the odd green one. Nice weight smooth board, great patina, water stains on the green one that make me love it even more, and wire edging that shows a little rust, all to the good. I especially love the shapes of the wire-trimmed cutouts for the finger holes, making them look rather like painters palettes. Super graphic and to my eye really gorgeous.
Green: 8 1/2 x 5 1/2. Brown: 10 1/2 x 5 1/4. Good condition, with just a but of separation between the board and wire along the bottom on the brown one, no real matter. Early 20th c. I would guess. Price is for the pair.
