This amazing thing, quite a potent object I think, resonating in all sorts of ways. What a face, smiling but also perhaps a bit haunting, in very old, very crusty paint that clearly weathered the elements for many many years, with a red painted mouth stretching from one end to the other and perhaps a second eye like a shadow below the right one. Some old yellow paint around the edges too. The round, cast iron clapper inside produces the most wonderful deep, rich clang. 19th c. I believe, with a powerful presence, much better in person.
6 1/2” t x 4 15/16” w x 2 11/16” d, structurally in great shape with a truly fantastic surface and wonderful sound.
