Unusual to find a hand-painted full plate folk art tintype like this mounted to wood--certainly done later, and with a shoe string threaded through two holes in the wood to hang it, a nice make-do sort of detail. I really love his face, and delicately painted mustache and striped tie, and his Mona Lisa-esque sort mystery-intensity, with an eyes following you around the room aspect for sure. Feels very present, an excellent one to live with.
10 7/8" x 8 1/4" as mounted to wood panel, with a shoelace threaded across the top for hanging. Full plate tintype itself 8 5/8" x 6 13/16". Some surface scratches and erosion to the surface of the tintype particularly lower left corner.
