I don't know why this was made or what for, but I find it beautiful, reminding me of early mensuration forms (geometric solids), specifically the round form made up of equally proportioned slice-like segments, and even better for the alternating woods that make it so graphically striking. I'd just hang it from a nail on the wall and call it a day.
9" in diameter x 9/16" thick. As evident, these is a thin separation between the segments in two places. I kind of like the tension it embodies--the impossibility of all of these slices fitting and holding perfectly together inside the pressure imposed by the exterior ring.
