A hand-painted Delft plate, mid/2nd half 18th century, which, had I come across it in a museum vitrine filled with antique delftware and faience I would absolutely covet. With the flower and bud rendered in a similar manner to an 18th c. botanical drawing--like a plum colored honeycomb in this full frontal view, just waiting for the bees to arrive, and with the bud as if in cross-section view. Elegant and folky both, and very crisp feeling regardless of a few small chips around the rim.(Really, it feels like breathing fresh spring air.) I would hang this one on the wall straight away, very lovely.
8 3/4" in diameter x 1 1/4" d. Good antique condition, reads bright and crisp, with just some surface chips around the perimeter edge of the plate as documented.
