Inuit Carved Antler Bird on Stone Base

Regular price $80.00

I went back to the source from whom I recently purchased another Alaskan Inuit bird carved of antler and found this one, which looks to me to represent a goose. I love the lines of it, and the natural darkening in the bone, and the roundedness of the head in contrast to the point of the tail. Two eyes  were simply carved out, once blackened but most of the black now gone. The base is a thin, triangularly shaped slab of a slate-like stone, which it attacheds to simply via a carved bone peg, and which I think compliments it perfectly.

7" l measured on the square x 4 3/4" t. 3 7/16" d at base. Very good condition, 2nd half 20th century.
