Highly Empathetic Old Homemade Wooden Box with Curious Joints and Many Drill Holes

Regular price $50.00

A number of boxes this week that won my heart in one way or another, this very much one of them. Super patina, nice long size and shape, white cloth label turning one corner telling us it once held large and medium wood drills, small files and  screw drivers. And then small holes drilled into the top and sides in a semi regular pattern--putting the drills to trial, I presume, while also evoking a sense that this could also have been put to use as a bait box at some point! Best of all to me are the tongue and groove joints visible from both short sides, higher on one side, lower on the other, making it appear that both the front and back of the box were constructed on two separate pieces of wood and making it feel all feel very singular and very tender. And very useful still for most any sort of thing.

14 7/8" l x 5" d x 4 1/2" t. Solid and sturdy condition, terrific patina, more beautiful in hand with a wonderful presence.
