I seem to be finding wounded ducks of various sorts of late; here's another, this one a heavy old iron shooting target, which has accrued quite a patina! The crusty surface mingling rust and old white paint is beautiful to me, but what I love most is the way that the shot and eroded away parts of the head and neck/back transform this duck into a fiercer looking creature - like a serpent of some sort, perhaps a dragon! Photos don't do this justice; it has a terrific, very sculptural presence.
8 1/2” x 5 5/8” x 1 3/8” d. Very sound and solid and stable now despite all the wear and tear.
