As someone who sucked her thumb for more years than I might do well to admit, this one may especially speak to me personally, but I think there is something pretty universally relatable about the simple self-soothing gesture this carving articulates, in a wonderfully elemental way. The wear to the polychromed surface, and to the features of the face especially, make it all the better and more existential feeling I think, and what I take for pink pajamas evince a sort of liminal space between waking and dreaming. Curious and a bit mysterious and perhaps a little haunting.
6 inches tall and in very good structural condition with plenty of wear but no cracks, splits or other issues.
