George's 19th Century Geography Book with Drawings

Regular price $30.00

I don't mind if I never sell any of these old school books with doodles and drawings inside; I'll keep buying them and build a collection for myself! For me, they feel like small, singular treasures, with the handwritten names and sketches of their onetime owner (or numerous owners) animating their end pages like escapist fantasies in counterpoint to, or sometimes inspired by, the lessons inside. The inside over of this 19th century geography book features George M in lovely blue/purple ink/watercolor letters, and then these exuberant graphite and ink flowers below as well as a few more interactions of George and lots of flourishes. On the back inside cover is a great little drawing of a man in orange coat. The book itself, with lots of maps, is in rough shape inside, with all sorts of torn and worn pages, but the exterior I find quite beautiful, especially for the string binding.

8 7/8" x 6 5/8". 58 numbered pages. String binding is very tight, it is hard to open quite all the way flat. Condition well documented.
