Such an excellent and evocative old tool, which I love for many reasons. Of course I love the sculptural form of it, looking like three fingers of a hand with beautifully awkward raised arms or wings at either side, seeming poised to start flapping and carry it away--and, being that it is a voltage meter, one imagines it might emit bolts of electricity as it goes! Then there is the meter itself, with PERFECT, the company of its maker I assume, printed just below the three possible options of "DEAD", "DISCHARGED" or "CHARGED", with the arrow here seeming to forever point slightly positive, as if detecting at least a faint pulse at the wrist! I'm always looking for resonant found objects and found language both, and the combination of form and text here is, to my sensibilities, perfect indeed.
11 3/4" t x 7 1/4" w x 3 1/4" d and in good structural condition, with much loss to the blue paint on the wooden handle and meter, all to the good in my opinion.
