Eagle Carrying Rabbit, Antique Ink and Watercolor Drawing, Framed

Regular price $160.00

I was recently listening to an NPR story about a woman who has over many years developed very very close relationships with a wide spectrum of animals including an octopus!  Over the past several years she has spent her time with birds of prey, a different thing entirely in the sense that the drive in them to hunt is so strong that the only basis for a relationship is to be useful to them in their pursuit of prey. And yet this woman has devoted herself to them, for the sheer reward of witnessing their power and prowess and unmitigated focus up close. And so, looking at this drawing makes me think about focus, and determination, and will, and the larger scheme of things. Of course, at the same time, I'm always rooting for the rabbit! Anyway, I think this is a pretty great old drawing, with attention to every feather, makes both the eagle and the rabbit feel, to me at least, equally empathetic.

Framed, as found: 14 1/8" x 11 1/8". Sight: 10 1/2" x 7 3/8". Both frame and drawing in very good condition, early 20th c. I believe.
