I purchased this one from a dealer in North Carolina, and she does seem a bit of the Southern(ish) belle with fan in hand, though I am not certain of her origins. Later 19th century I believe, in what appears to be her original gold gessoed frame, suiting her perfectly. Naive but also very delicately rendered, with finely drawn features and wonderful painterly application of the green of her dress. And with her eyes cast slightly, upward, perhaps in reference to her faith, but seeming to me more as if a subtly expressing exasperation at having to sit in such a poised and self-contained manner!
5 7/8" x 4 3/4" framed, under glass, in original antique frame with wood back and loop at top for hanging. Good antique condition, and as with most everything much lovelier in hand!
