Delicate Small 1914 Ex Voto Retablo on Tin

Regular price $70.00

I really love this delicacy of this small ex voto retablo, which I find quite elegant in its simplicity, and quite tender in its humility. By my translation, it seems the subject is one Epitacio Allala, whose right hand was wounded with a bullet on May 9, 1913, and thanks is being given to Our Lady of San Juan de los Logos for his miraculous healing. I know it is hard to feel scale in photos, but the painting is just 4 1/2" x 4", so our floating Virgin is quite small and finely painted, making her feel extra special, and I really love the rendering of our man under red blanket, with a few trails of red along the lines of his hand. And this perfect soft green ground, too.

4 1/2" x 4" and in very good condition, with an old wire still looped through the hole at top center for hanging (or easily removed.)
