Deidamla Swallow (b. 1778, Groton, MA) Fraktur Penmanship Nameplate in Lemon Gold Frame

Regular price $165.00

You know how much I love fine examples of early penmanship with fancy fraktur lettering, but I love the name Deidamia Swallow at least equally as much! And if my name were Deidamia Swallow, I would most certainly want to hang it proudly on the wall. Executed in black ink, dated February 28, 1811, behind glass in the perfect antique gilded frame. And I have identified Deidamia, born Deidamia Woods on October 28, 1778 in Groton, MA, married to Nahum Swallow on December 22,  1796, and then mother to at least 8 sons and 8 daughters! She died on September 5, 1858, in White Hall, Greene, Illinois at the age of 79, where she was buried.

Framed as found, behind glass in a great antique gold over gesso antique frame with hanging loop attached--perfect. All in very good antique condition. 11" x 6 5/8" framed.
