Such a funny little one--I want to call this a carved baby doll, but with a full head of hair, she seems well beyond the toddler stage! The carving of that hair is quite wonderful, and her carved face, with subtly painted red lips, is too. And a bit funny how she's carved to sit with her legs spread wide. I believe she was likely modeled after a "Frozen Charlotte" china doll--a folky homemade version carved of wood. With string ties at her joints and varnished surface. C. 1920s-40s I would guess.
